Cassandra Warnica, M.S. Ed (she/her)

Mental Health Counselor

Hi! I am Cassie Warnica and I am a Mental Health Counselor in Belfast Central School.  This is my 3rd position through Core/Literacy West.  I first worked for the agency when they were known as Literacy Volunteers of America as a Peer Tutor when I was in High School, then again as an After School Tutoring Program Coordinator before starting my Master’s and have recently found my way back to the agency.

I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from SUNY Oneonta in 2010, and my Masters in School Counseling from St. Bonaventure University in 2014. I have been counseling for 8 years, providing support to both adult and youth who experience anxiety from life stressors, trauma, or social-emotional difficulties.

In my current role, I work with students through PK-12th grade and provide them support with social skills, emotion processing, and coping skills through 1:1 counseling and group counseling.  I strive to be as integrated into the school community as possible so the students feel comfortable coming to me when they need assistance. I have lived in Allegany County for just over 20 years and am currently raising my two young children here with my husband, just houses away from my childhood home.  In my free time, I like to read, spend time with family, and bake.

Resiliency Coach

In November 2021 I began a second career. After working nearly 45 years in law enforcement and security I retired in 2019. In late October 2021 I was selected by Literacy West, Belmont NY to work as a Security Monitor at Friendship Central School. My job is basically to protect students, staff, and school property.

The outpouring of love and acceptance I have received from students and staff is overwhelming… I look forward to coming to school each day and facing new experiences as well as new challenges. Thank you, Literacy West, for giving me this opportunity!!!
